Baptist Church has given birth to three missions. Ewa Beach Southern Baptist Mission was born November 6, 1958, through a home Bible Study in the home of Herbert Hemmingway. The Sunday School started January 11, 1959 and the church was organized on March 13, 1960. Rev. Charles Mullins, Ernest Kanimura, Guy Prather, Kenneth Newman and Bill Sanders have served as pastors. Known as Light House, it serves Ewa Beach area. First Baptist Church of Nanakuli was born through a Home Bible Study in April, 1961, in the home of William Tilley. A Vacation Bible School held in August was followed by Sunday School and morning worship service. The church was organized May 26, 1963. Rev William Tilley, William Russell, Ray Viliamu, Alan Russell, Walter Copeland, Bob Anders, and David Wheeler, and Wayne Waterhouse have served as pastors.
The Kaala View Chapel was born under a tent July 30, 1963. It was begun by Pastor Sam Hahn and two BSU Missionaries, Jerry Grey and Rebecca Wiley. Lionel Patton served as one of the pastors. This SBC has changed its name to Mt. Kaala Baptist Church. Current pastor is the honorable Rev. Stanley Shiroma. |
